About the event
This is a special event for Caring Crew, as we get to help serve the community of Antigua, Guatemala, in two ways: by partnering with both Mario's Project and MedShare!
For those who are interested, MedShare is a nonprofit and long-time partner of Caring Crew. They work to collect donated medical supplies and send them to hospitals and clinics around the world. Caring Crew has served in both the clinics and have helped deliver the supplies across the globe! For this trip, we are looking for four volunteers to help ship the bags of donated medical supplies as we fly to Guatemala to deliver them to tent-clinics serving their local community.
Mario's Project was founded in 2020 in response to the dire need for foodstuffs, as families were hit hard by the Pandemic. The founders, Janet and Mario, collect donations every week and use them to purchase meal supplies. They sort the meal supplies into large bags and then deliver them to families in need. Each bag costs roughly $15 USD and can feed a family of four for an entire week! Caring Crew will help sort and distribute these supplies with the Mario's Project team.
We ask for a volunteer fee of $75 USD which will include lodging, breakfast, and roundrip transportation between Antigua and the Guatemala airport. All travel expenses on the flights, additional meals, any necessary COVID-19 tests and additional shopping are the responsibility of the volunteer.
